kick that sugar habit!

Need motivation to kick the sugar habit?  When we eat 2 tsp of sugar, our body chemistry changes upsetting the balance of minerals in the body and impairing body functions.

1 tsp of sugar = 4 grams

1 glass of white wine (5 fl oz) contains 1.17g of sugar.

Sugar interferes with proteins in the body causing chain reactions that can lead to imbalance and disease.  Sugar molecules attach to proteins and disrupt the body's connective tissues, such as collagen and elastin, contributing to ageing and wrinkles.

Those sweet white grains are a highly inflammatory source to the body.

Sugar comes in many guises, so read the label carefully.  Anything ending in 'ose' should be avoided.  Extrinsic sugars are those that are added to processed foods.  Intrinsic sugars are those that are found within the whole food - fruit & honey.

The most common dietary source of sugar is sucrose, but sugar also comes in the form of lactose (milk products), and fructose (fruit, honey).

Try alternatives including molasses, stevia, xylitol and agave nectar.
