Men: Testosterone & Why You Need It

Why You Want Testosterone

You want Testosterone.

Its effect on the body is wide and impactful - as well as being the main sex hormone for men. Men produce around 10x more Testosterone than women. It's on a 24 hour cycle, highest in the morning waning at the end of the day. From around the ages of 30 to 40 men's Testosterone levels decline at a steady rate of 1-2% a year.

We need testosterone for vitality and health, including:

#Concentration

#Confidence

#Mood

#Energy

#Sexdrive

#Musclemass

That's a package we do not want to lose!

Testosterone and Heart Disease

#Testosterone in your body reduces #heartdisease and potential bone thinning. So it's vital to maximise our levels (healthily) to maintain our peak health and wellbeing.

It's involved in red blood cell production, maintaining our bone health, our muscle growth and strength, sperm production & erectile function - improving drive, mood, confidence and memory function.

If you went to the Dr's surgery saying 'Hey I think my Testosterone is low or I'm having erectile dysfunction issues, or I just can't build muscle mass in the gym...

Yes the GP will often look at Testosterone, but a good health practitioner is going to think about balancing all the other hormones - as they work in concert with each other.

If you just look at Testosterone alone you're potentially missing the root cause of the problem. If you just add pharmaceutical testosterone you’re just applying a band aid to a deeper hormonal issue.

This is a key issue that runs deep in men (and menopausal women’s health). We all want drive, confidence and muscles.

I will write more on the key hormones and impact of Testosterone in future posts.
