World Mental Health Day
Mental health comes in all sizes, in all people - it hides behind any face, even when it’s smiling. Mental health problems like depression, anxiety and stress are very common in men. About one third of men have had a diagnosed mental health problem. Or would have had they sought help.
Men are reluctant to see a doctor, to seek help for their physical or mental health, and more likely to end their lives than women.
Some of the warning signs include - mood swings and anger, feeling tense or anxious, not sleeping properly, excess drinking or gambling, behaving out of character, losing interest in things you usually enjoy, struggling at work, physical aches and pains, feeling tired and lacking energy.
Actions that can help are:
🌀Connecting with other people
🌀Be physically active
🌀Get present - focus on the here and now
🌀Learn new things, be curious
🌀Eat healthily
🌀Give (in an act) and be kind to others
🌀Have fun, through sport, friends, culture, art
🌀Get out in fresh air especially nature
🌀Learn relaxation techniques such as meditation and breathing
🔅A little can go a long way.
